8 Day Vic Falls to Kruger (BS-YBOP)
Days 1-2 Victoria Falls

Mhoro! Welcome to Zimbabwe.

You will need to arrive by 1pm on day 1 for our welcome meeting. Your leader will leave a note at reception telling you where this important meeting will take place. Please ask a member of reception for this information. Your leader will collect your kitty and check your passport and insurance details at this meeting.

In the afternoon we visit to the magnificent Victoria Falls. The falls are an enormous curtain of water, about a mile wide, falling 108 m into a narrow chasm below. In the wet season, the spray created can rise up an incredible 400 m and the falls are an impressive raging torrent. The spray from the falls can sometimes be seen from kilometres away. It's no wonder the local name Mosi oa Tunya, means the "smoke that thunders". In the dry season, the view of the falls is unobstructed by spray and it's possible to see little islets in the river below.

Our second day at Victoria Falls is free for you to explore on your own. There are various activities and excursions to choose from both on the water, on land or high above it all. Choose from white water rafting and canoeing, or go horse riding, abseiling or gorge swinging

Tonight we our camp ground is centrally located on the Zambezi River, the perfect base for the vast array of adventure activities on offer in the area. It has clean shared facilities, comprising hot and cold showers and toilets.

Day 3 Chobe National Park

Leaving Zimbabwe behind we cross the border into Botswana and head towards Chobe National Park (100 km, 2-3 hours).

Botswana's first National Park, Chobe is perhaps best known for its high concentration of elephants, which can often be seen swimming in the Chobe River. The river also attracts wallowing hippos, a variety of birdlife, crocodiles sunning themselves by the water's edge, and cheetahs and lions which come down to drink.

In the late afternoon, we enjoy a cruise on the Chobe River, a very relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

Tonight we camp on the outskirts of the park is a basic camp with shared facilities.

Day 4 Palapye

This morning you have the option of a sleep in or an early rise where you can head off in an open vehicle game drive in to the National Park.

After breakfast we hit the road, bound for Palapye (660 km, approx. 7-8 hours). A typical Botswana town, we will have the afternoon to explore the town centre before heading out to a local restaurant or cafe for dinner.

Days 5-6 Kruger National Park

We have an early start today as we leave Botswana and head towards South Africa and Kruger National Park (600 km, approx 8-9 hours).

We enter the park through one of its central gates and game drive all the way to our campsite, hoping to catch a glimpse of some of the amazing animals found inside the park, including the 'Big 5'.

The next day we explore the diversity of the Kruger landscape ranging from rolling hills with granite outcrops to Savannah grasslands during a full day game drive.

In the evening, there is the option of taking an additional night drive with park authorities to spot nocturnal animals and perhaps even night-time predators. If you're interested in having more animal encounters while here, there is also the option of going on an early morning guided game walk.

While in Kruger we camp in two-man dome tents. Our campsites are National Park facilities and generally have hot and cold showers with flushing toilets.

Days 7-8 Greater Kruger/Johannesburg

This morning we depart the park by mid morning, taking in a final game drive as we go.

We stop off at a local settlement on the outskirts of the park for lunch and a guided walk before visiting the South African Wildlife College for an insight into what it takes to become a wildlife guide.

We will have the option to take some evening game drives with a wildlife guide or just relax around our campsite.

The following morning we are up early, as we transfer back to Johannesburg (600 km, approx 8-9 hours), arriving in the late afternoon. There's plenty of time to stop and explore along the way. We stop at the viewpoint over the awesome Blyde River Canyon and take in amazing views over the region.

On arrival in Jo'burg you can be dropped at the airport or at our finishing point hotel.

No accommodation is provided for tonight, but we are able to book you additional accommodation in Johannesburg. Please ask at time of booking.
