Sun City & Pilanesberg Nature Reserve Full Day Tour - (SJ7)

"I would like to start off saying that our tour guide was very pleasant and interested us all the way on our long drive with local knowledge, which was very helpful to us on our stay in Joburg. The tour overall was ok but left both of us very disappointed. And feeling like we had not got enough out of the day for our money, we would not do this type of tour again. So much was packed into one day that we did not get enough time to see and do what we wanted to do. We felt like we were rushed and kept to a tight time scale. As you can imagine when you are on holiday this is the last thing you want to do. The morning Safari was not what we expected. We only managed to see 2 out of the big 5 and because of the car we were in, we were unable to go off road, which ruined our chances of seeing what we came and paid to see. When we bought this package it was advertised that we would see the big 5!! This part of the tour should have started allot earlier for us to have had any chance, our tour guide also mentioned this fact to us when we were leaving the National Park. This disappointed myself especially, as this was my first safari experience. The Suncity tour should really have been a one day event. There is so much to see and do and we did not have anytime to experience this. Once we had eaten (as this was the only time we would have had all day) we were left with 1hr to do an activity. Our tour guide helped by picking some leaflets for us, we choose the Crocodile Sanctuary as they showed feeding time, which would have been amazing experience for both of us. Our tour guide agreed to meet back up and drive us there. When we got there we had to pay 70R, which we were aware off from the start. But once we paid we were informed that the Crocodile's feeding time was 4.30pm and we were unable to do this due to us having to leave at 3.30pm to get back to the hotel in time. So we had just paid 70R each to walk around looking at crocodile's do nothing. We were there for 25min max. We did not have a tour guide from the sanctuary and our tour guild help but with very limited knowledge, this meant that this was not enjoyable for either of us. Plus if we had been told that the feeding time was later than our departure time by our tour guide we would not have chosen this particular activity. The tour is called a “whole day tour”, ending your day at 3.30pm is not all day. It would have been more worth while if we had not left Suncity till about 5.30pm and then we would have been able to enjoy this part of the tour with out being rushed and missing all the good bits. Plus the driver would miss some of the rush hour traffic that we were stuck in for 2 hours. Overall we felt that the whole day was a waste of money for what we actually did and saw.
