Madikwe Game Reserve is situated in the North West Province and is bordered by Botswana and the Dwarsberg Mountains, the 75 000 HA malaria-free reserve is home to the Madikwe river lodge positioned on the Groot Marico River, with all the chalets having river frontage.( 4 hours drive from Johannesburg and 45 minutes by aircraft).

The reserve boasts the second largest Elephant population in SA . The experienced game rangers share their intimate knowledge of the bush as you venture on your daily morning and afternoon game drives. Experience the thrill of observing the majestic "Big 5” close up in their natural environment. The diverse habitat in the reserve, from acacia savannah to riverine, ensures a unique combination of species, including wild dog, cheetah, lion, white and black rhino, buffalo and elephant. The birdlife is spectacular.

Madikwe River Lodge offers great accommodation in 16 secluded split-level thatched chalets set in on the banks of the Groot Marico River. Without leaving your chalet, enjoy the game as they wonder down to the river to drink. Each chalet is individually decorated in African themes and offer en-suite bathroom and shower. A full range of guest amenities, air-conditioning, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities are provided. A private wooden viewing deck overlooks the river. Luxury suites include a separate lounge area and an outside shower.

Madikwe River Lodge is surrounded by an electric fence and has 24 hour security, a beautiful swimming pool with sun deck high above the river at the main lodge, a rock pool, and a small curio shop. Laundry service is complimentary to its guests, as well as babysitting and specialized kids drives are offered. The Lodge is a child-friendly and offers six family rooms, with twin beds and an additional sleeper couch. Cots are available on request. Children under the age of 8 years are not permitted at all outdoor dining venues, however provision is made for children's meals in the main dining room.

Madikwe River Lodge offers outdoor catering where meals are served outdoors in the reserve. Dinner is also served in our Island Boma or in the lodge dining room; lunch is served on the main lodge deck, whilst breakfast is served in the dining room or outdoor deck. Conference facilities can cater for up to 32 delegates. Unique Group Activities: Bush Dinners & Boma Dinners & Team Building Exercises. Exclusive bush weddings can also be co-coordinated.
