It's hardly fair to write this now with the World Cup semi finals on, I'm jet lagged and a tad bloated from over consumption during my hols. In short I had a terrific time in SA.
One of the high points was Kruger and the lodge experience. It's truly an escape from the high tech world that I live in, a paradise. And by this I mean the peace and quiet. The Lodge accommodation was better than I'd expected, more than adequate given that it's essentially in the middle of nowhere. Nope. No wandering down the shops or the pub. The Lodge is self contained and seemingly ecological, yet tasteful in decor. The meals, taste and filling. I've gained 2 kg this holiday. Yikes! The staff were friendly and kind.
Kruger was a blast as we were driven by a professional and charming guide. I needed the loo and ........ Oopsy daisy! My key board went funny. Anyway, we saw quite a lot, pretty much everything except leopards. Good commentary along the way and not overdone. I don't want to give away the plot here.
My only criticism is that the journey back, with all the drop offs, took twice as long as the pick ups and was a shattering 12 hours. Blyde River Canyon was included, a breath taking view. However twenty minutes at Blyde River Canyon isn't enough given it's a chance for a toilet break. With few loos and many tourists queuing for the same chance to either take a photo or ease their bladders it was a rushed visit.
But, would I do it again? Yes, Yes Yes! I lived a dream Thanks guys.
