I had decided to surprise my future wife with a trip to the Kruger National Park as she''s German and had never been to the park before. We were greeted by a friendly gentlemen by the name of Robin who was our guide for the next four days.(Yes, it was a coincidence!)Our tour guide was well-informed and always ready to explain aspects of the safari to us. We were a bit surprised when he started making animal "calls" yet became accustomed to it when we saw how receptive the animals were to it. The first morning was spent in transit and when we arrived at the park we were greeted by fresh air and great weather. Our guide ensured that we were happy and enjoying the safari. At times, we’d be tired from being on the road, and he understood if my partner were to request time to rest. I can only also imagine how tired he would be from all the driving. As the sun began to set and the evening began to arise, Robin made a suggestion as to what we felt like eating for supper. I feel that there was a bit of indecisiveness as he didn''t know what our tastes were, yet that was soon over and each meal he cooked, was thoroughly enjoyed. Apart from being a good cook, Robin was also a great guide. We managed to see the Big Five and also had a close experience with a White Rhino, a bull elephant and a few lions. Robin was also knowledgeable of the bird-life in the park, spotting species that we noted in the map book. We visited areas that had its own appeal and this was exciting. From the commercial Skukuza to the comfortably basic Pretoriuskop,it was all a good experience. We would wake up early each morning to our guide and then be on the road to catch the animals after their nocturnal activities. It was a thoroughly good trip and we(hopefully my wife, at that time) will be back on another trip of the Kruger. Thank you to all at the Kruger Park safaris and Accomodation Direct for the wonderful experience!
