4 Day Budget Kruger Lodge Safari (VSO8)

Surrounded by Big Five reserves such as Kapama and Timbavati, the Cheetah Inn is game-fenced and has small game and antelope. The view of open bushveld with the majestic Drakensberg mountains in the background is really impressive !

The Cheetah Inn has 8 bright and airy rooms in the hotel proper and 13 thatched rondawels surrounded by lush gardens and huge Lowveld trees. The units are airconditioned and fully en suite ( bath, shower, basin, toilet ), have overhead fans and offer a tea/coffee hospitality tray.

A colonial charm of a bygone era pervades the place and salient features include an extremely large swimming pool, a 9 hole minigolf course, a conference facility, a private airstrip and a large boma built from local rock.

Chalets at Cheetah Inn

The interior courtyard has a pond which contains a number of local fish and an outside aviary has a collection of beautifully-coloured local Lowveld finches.

At night the calls of lions, hyenas and jackals add a magical touch to the atmosphere around our crackling fire in the boma.

Day One :

Home/ Hotel or Airport pickup and travel eastwards from Gauteng towards the Lowveld. After check in at the Cheetah Inn, we board an open Gameviewer for an exciting 3 hour Sunset Drive on the adjacent Motlala Game Reserve. After enjoying a stunning African sunset, powerful spotlights will be used to locate nocturnal species such as genet, porcupine, scrub hare and civet. Dinner will be served around a large fire under a starry African canopy.

Day Two :

At the Orpen Gate of Kruger Park, board an open Gameviewer for a full day of game viewing and bird watching. From your elevated position, outstanding opportunities are had to view game and take exceptional photos. We have a lunch break at Satara camp, which is in the centre of a wildlife zone renowned for many lion prides. The open grassy plains around Satara attract big herds of giraffe, zebra and antelope as well as numerous buffalo and elephant. Return to Cheetah Inn for dinner around the campfire, where you can discuss the day’s gameviewing highlights.

Day Three :

An armed ranger will conduct an exciting 1,5 hour Bush Walk on the Motlala Game Reserve. You will be shown the spoor and droppings of wild creatures, big and small. The walk concentrates on smaller wildlife things like plants, birds and insects and general items that you won't get to see from your vehicle, but from time to time, dangerous animals such as buffalo, rhino and leopard may be encountered. After breakfast, we drive via the Three Rondawels of the Blyde River Canyon en route to Johannesburg where we arrive around 16h00.

Day Four:

Spend the day in the Kruger Park on the open Gameviewer.

"We arrived at Johannesburg airport and were picked up by Anthony and taken to his Bed and Breakfast. He was so friendly and helpful, and we met some of his friends at the B&B that were also really friendly. The B&B is beautiful. The next morning we were picked up around 9 and driven to Kruger (by Isaac and Raymond). We met Mayneuth halfway there and he was our guide for the Kruger safaris. Both Isaac and Mayneuth were exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. We spent more time with Mayneuth--2 days in Kruger and for the bush walk on the last day. He was always smiling and a pleasure to be with. At the lodge, Mark's Treehouse we were greeted by Florence, another exceptional person. She was pleasant and warm. The food was great and we really enjoyed the surroundings. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone else, and I hope I have the chance to return one day. Thanks to everyone. -- Peter Revie "
