If you listen carefully you may catch the call of the rain bird, hear the chattering of the barbets in the trees or the hauntingly beautiful chorus of the guinea fowl in the small suburb of President Park. There are a few guesthouses where you will wake up with the sounds of nature around you.
You can also visit beautiful places in the Midrand area such as the Lory Park Animal and Owl Sanctuary which is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm. The Park has a wide variety of Birds (including Birds of Prey), herbivores, omnivores and carnivores. Public feeding of certain animals is organised on a daily basis, usually around lunch and the omnivore visitors can enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Some guesthouses such as Guinea Fowl Lodge offers a variety of outdoor entertainment areas in communal and private courtyards or just sit in the garden and listen to the sounds of nature.
