Either the poet within them awakens, or they stammer in frustration at their inability to describe their experience to family and friends back home. That is when a book by Herman Charles Bosman comes in handy. However, from the word Marico, one realizes that the area has a much deeper and darker history than Bosman’s humorous descriptions of Bushveld life on isolated Boer farms. The name Marico originates from the Bahurutse words madi, meaning blood and kwa.
