Madikwe Game Reserve is MALARIA FREE and offers 165 000 acres of prime Game Viewing including Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino. As well as the Big Five Madikwe offers fantastic opportunities to view the rare and endangered Wild Dog which is a mega "tick" on any game viewers list. There is also extensive plains game and over 340 species of birds to attract your attention.
The BBC and National Geographic have visited Madikwe on several occasions to capture the impressive wildlife, especially the wild dogs that have firmly placed Madikwe on the tourism map.
Madikwe Game Reserve is a mere 3 to 4 hours drive from Johannesburg and for those that wish to experience an exhilarating fly-in safari, the reserve has an excellent all weather 1 500-metre gravel airstrip with daily return shuttle flights from Johannesburg International Airport.
