South Africa has become a major tourist destination since the shackles of Apartheid fell off in 1994. Kensington, which lies due east of Jozi’s CBD, has in recent times become the preferred residence for many artists, musicians, and the like, mimicking the trend of next door neighbours Observatory, Melville, and Yeoville.
This historic suburb, unlike Yeoville, has remained a timeless piece of Johannesburg’s rich history with its aesthetic appeal and chic-like ambience drawing many curious visitors to the area. Kensington is positioned perfectly giving travellers easy access to the likes of the Bruma Lake Flea Market and Eastgate shopping mall, which has many shops, restaurants, and various entertainment outlets. Other top attractions in close proximity include the Apartheid Museum, the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club, and Turffontein Race Course.
