Henly-on-Klip
Henley-on-Klip is a beautiful village in a natural setting of tranquility. It is conveniently situated close to the south of Johannesburg, South Africa. There are so many activities to enjoy in this gorgeous place. Henley-on-Klip is a bird sanctuary that sits on the banks of the Klip River. It is beautiful and visitors can enjoy the bird life out here. Bird watching is definitely a pleasure. One can also go fishing and also visit the safaris. Many artists and crafters have been attracted by the peace and tranquility of this place and their art can be easily viewed in the local gallery. There are some interesting buildings in the area such as the church of St Paul’s; small and lovely with its inviting setting and peaceful environment.
The Bass Lake is the favourite for many open water divers. This is because it was an open cast mine and now it is flooded with a terraced floor, the terraces which can be found at different heights, mainly eight, eighteen and twenty-four metres. This provides an opportunity for Open Water diving training. There have been reports by divers who have gone to the bottom of the mine that buses, helicopter, cars and bathroom sets were in the water! Perfect place for an outing, as there are braai facilities at this lake.
