Bloemfontein is the Capital City of the Free State Province and is situated roughly in the middle of the Free State Province. It is also centrally situated in South Africa itself.
Bloem (as it is nick-named) had locally become known as the "City of Roses" and is given the highest pivotal importance than any other city in the South Africa. Shopping areas have picturesque and neat surroundings, ample and convenient parking space, as well as helpful and friendly staff all gives a pleasant experience.
The Bloemfontein atmosphere is one derived from an appreciation of family values. Family and Business interests are combined, creating no discord as cultures are peacefully intermingled. There is little stress and a peaceful atmosphere that is almost tangible. Streets are clean and free of litter.
The City Hall, buildings of judicial implication, Old Presidency, railway station, the Anglican Cathedral, the Dutch Reformed twin tower church and more are some of the historical building found in Bloem.
Other places for the enjoyment or various activities and water sports include the Botanical Gardens, the Orchid House and Aventura Maselspoor. The Bloemfontein Zoo, Sand du Plessis Theatre and Naval Hill with the Franklin Reserve are also other cultural entertainment places.
The Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein will be one of the World Cup 2010 venues.
