Auckland Park is a lively suburb of Johannesburg in South Africa. The University of Johannesburg and the South African Broadcasting Corporation are both located in this suburb, giving it a large student as well as professional population. Auckland Park is situated almost in the exact middle of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Greater Area. It is 30 minutes from the Johannesburg International Airport.
The Auckland Park suburb was laid out and developed in 1888 by a New Zealander, John Landau, who saw great similarities in the area to his own home town Auckland, hence the name.
